Isn’t it funny how you can say one thing but really think another? How many times do you tell someone that you love their outfit but really think it’s hideous? How many times do you tell someone that everything is ok when it really isn’t?
What is coming out of your mouth?
The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.
-Luke 6:45
The Bible says, ‘out of the overflow of his heart the mouth speaks.’ So really, what we thought may be a mouth or mind condition is really a heart condition.
What do you allow into your heart? Disappointment, anger, hurt, jealousy, envy? I realized recently that I had allowed disappointment to enter my heart and it was flowing quickly out of my mouth and hurting those around me. The enemy offered up an attack on my heart and I accepted.
Constantly mediating on the ‘what ifs’ finally gave those thoughts free reign in my heart. Instead of rejoicing in the amazing blessings God has given me, I became fixated on doubting myself and constantly reliving my mistakes.
It took a friend of mine to point it out. Since then, I’ve been studying the Word even deeper. I want my heart to be filled with the promises of the Lord so that doubt, despair, hurt, anger, etc do not come out of my mouth. Many times the very words out of your mouth dictate your circumstances.
The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.
-Proverbs 18:21
The real question is, do you have a heart condition? Your ‘tongue has the power of life and death,’ you cannot speak life if your heart is full of death.
Every once in awhile we have to examine ourselves and see if our circumstances are not caused by our very own words and condition of the heart. Meditate on the Word and bring life back into your heart again, listen to yourself speak as you speak life back into your job, your marriage and your children. Let the Creator of Life do a new work in your heart.

Bless the Lord, it just amazes me still how God works and speaks to us. I just read your new posted devotional “A Heart Condition” and I was just speechless because I had been studying this very topic and scripture for a speaking engagement I have on Sunday at a local church!!!
You see I’m a 25 yr old African American female with congestive heart failure, I have been in and out the hospital since June 30, 2009 with this condition. They found it only a month after I graduated with my masters in social work in May 2009. The doctors are still puzzled to how or why I developed such a sever condition so quickly. I have even been evaluated for a heart transplant but praise God my name is NOT on the list.
I started visiting your website a few weeks ago after your article in Joyce Meyer’s monthly magazine and I have enjoyed learning about special savings, the art of couponing and such. Your website helps me and my husband have a better outlook on purchasing groceries. I am on a very strict diet from my doctors and the cost of it is very over whelming some times. I am unable to work at the time and will be unable to for a little while longer so we only have my husbands income (which is not alot he’s only an assistant manger at a fast food restaurant and he is grossly underpaid); so your website has given us hope and faith that we will figure out a plan and stagey that will work for us and our budget!
You are so right about the words that come out of our months having a big impact on our lives and circumstances. I have been hearing this “words” message very strongly the last few months and I know God is telling me something because everywhere I turn I’m hearing it again and again. Thanks for posting this it definitely blessed my heart and soul.
God Bless you always!

Linda,
What an awesome comment! Thank you so much! The title ‘heart condition’ actually came from my youngest son whom God totally healed of a heart defect only a few months ago. I was filling out insurance papers this morning and was reminded of his past heart condition. I’m standing in faith with you, believing for total healing!
Thank you!!!
Heart condition? So true. So often during a trial I catch myself talking on and on about the problem to someone who has no way of helping. Simply looking for sympathy. Oh, poor me.
When I allow the Word of God to come out of my mouth instead of my own thoughts, I release the power of God and His word to work.
Thanks for a great devotional.
