While I get a ton of positive e-mails, tweets and facebook messages, I do, on occasion, get some that are not so positive. I thought I would take some time today to answer those questions head on.
Buckle up everybody, here we go:
1. I saw your posts on Financial Freedom. I always knew you were fake. If you were so good at couponing, you would not need to post about financial freedom.
I am a human being along with everyone else. My desire is to keep my money saving journey very real and relatable. I do not feel that I am fake, in fact, I feel that I am very honest. It is not easy to share job loss, debt or the fact that we could not afford to eat with hundreds of thousands of people.
My goal with
2. I can’t buy a book right now so I guess that means I can’t save money. Can’t you put something on this site that teaches us how to save money without spending it?
This entire website is full of free ways to save. In fact, everything I know about couponing is on this site in one form or another and it is completely free. We offer tons of free online videos plus forums that are packed full of information.
I have been teaching couponing for 3 years now and at each class someone would ask me to write a book. Everyone learns in different ways, for me, I like books and I like to research while others may need the one-on-one assistance. The book is a convenient way to learn the strategy, workshops work the same way as well. However, you can also learn by using the resources available on this site.
3. I spent 2 hours finding, printing and clipping coupons only to go to my store and find out they do not accept printed coupons. Why send me to a store that doesn’t take coupons? You are a waste of time!
Our forums are full of official coupon policies for the actual stores we cover. It is very important that you contact your store near you and find out their coupon policy.
I will show you the coupons and the deals and I will teach you how to save but it is up to you to contact your actual store.
4. You are claiming that I can cut my grocery bill by 50%, by not changing any of the products I currently use, and only spending one hour a week doing it. That is a flat out lie.
You are right, I actually spend about 30 minutes a week doing it so I guess one hour was a bit of a stretch.
Please remember, although this site is all about deals and coupons, I also teach a smart shopping strategy. It will take time to learn how that works either by buying my book, checking out Couponing 101 or researching the forums. Once you get it down, it becomes quick and easy to do. I do not have tons of time so I can promise you, if it took me hours and hours each week just to save money then I would not do it.
All I am teaching is where to find the coupons, where to use them and when to use them. Once you get that down, it becomes second nature.
5. I just wanted to comment that your speaking voice is less than desirable to listen to…You have the habit of speaking with a strong nasal quality.
Uh, ok. You’re gonna have to take that one up with the Lord! =)
I am not afraid to answer questions but my goal is to teach people how to become good stewards of their finances and also how to feed our families without breaking the bank. I have no desire to become fixated on e-mails and messages that will only bring me down. I am determined to keep my eyes on the Lord.
A big thanks to all of you who faithfully visit our website each and everyday and for all the positive e-mails and facebook messages. I appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you.
We’re making couponing cool again, one barcode at a time!

I think this is the BEST WEBSITE EVER!!!!! Because of it I can take my family to Disneyland in June and we are all very excited. Thank You Coupon Queen.
THANK YOU! I listened to you on a recent program and followed your ideas. Now, you must first know that I have hated coupons. Not what I want to buy. Not enough savings. Poor nutrition. Surprise! I clipped only those that were for items I use or would consider healthy choices. I only used the coupons if the items were on sale or it was a BIG savings. VOILA! I saved $51 on my grocery shopping and NO unneeded items. Thank you. Now, I am searching the store ads online before I choose a store. I am not buying a newspaper either.
PS. I saved nearly 50% of the total cost.
I am very proud of you for facing these head-on and sharing. Know that God will bless all that you are doing. The more you are in His will, the more nay-sayers will pop up and the more battles you may have to fight. Keep up the awesome, life-changing work that you do!
very well-put Sarah! Thanks for all you do! You have helped me and my family save money and for that I am eternally grateful! And I haven’t had to pay a dime
!
In reply to your speaking voice, come on people. Sarah, thank you for kind responses to comments like that. Those who take the time to write a complaint about voice quality must not be very happy with thier own lives!
I think your site is awesome. I have not purchased your book and have learned mostly from your site. I just recently attended your class in Collinsville and heard you personally. You were wonderful.. Keep up the good work. Those who never reach out are criticized. Only those who do the work!
Good job being kind in response to those criticisms. You’re doing great things and so many people appreciate you!
Sarah – thank you for all you do and for being strong enough to address these things head-on! That takes a woman with true strength in the Lord!! I’ve learned so much just from your (free) website and save an average of $20-$30 every time I go to the grocery store. Our cabinets are now well-stocked and grocery shopping is FUN!! It’s a challenge to see how much I can save and the reaction of the cashier and the people in line behind me. I’ve signed up for your workshop on 3/20 and can’t wait to learn more!
WOW. How could anybody be so mean? And ask stupid questions like they did. your website is awesome and I am still learning. I finally told myself to buy a binder and get ready. How can anyone say a load of crap? Keep up the good work!!
Are you kidding me!?! Grow up folks! Sarah, what a gracious response to all. Kuddos to you! Jealousy is a Green Eyed Monster, and you have been unfairly slimmed! LOL
It’s amazing how cold some people can be. I’m sure that if any one of them took a month or so to really use the site and become familiar with it, they would be successful. I have cut my grocery bill by an average of 70% because of what I have learned on this site. I used to save around 30%-40% when I couponed on my own. Some people are just so bitter that they have to find something wrong with everything. And as for your speaking voice, I think it’s lovely!
Wow. You know…I think it’s important to remember that when you serious work towards doing God will in your life, and you are really making a difference in this world, that the attacks on you WILL be there. Your having to respond to those comments…it’s a sign that you are doing awesome stuff!
Your voice? Really? How rude.
People are so rude. whatever happened to “if you dont have anything nice to say then dont say it?” its obvious you help more people than these who complained.lol you go girl!
I appreciate all the leg work you do to make deal finding easier. Some deals just don’t pan out and that is not your fault. Thanks for all you do. You have helped me, my family and I have even passed savings on to some friends. Thanks again!
I am all for the ability to voice complaints to LEGITIMATE issues. None of the issues people addressed seemed very legitimate to me, but more of an excuse for negative people who don’t like taking responsiblity if they don’t follow directions. I saw you on Joyce Meyer and was so excited that you got to have that platform to help others. It was awesome, and inspired me to keep pushing through my couponing, even when my family makes fun of me and when other negative people get mad in line at the store because someone with coupons is in front of them. Joyce and Ginger did a great job of allowing you to bring out all the good reasons and ways to coupon. You looked great and sounded great! Why am I going on and on? Because I literally just got back from the store and sat down at my computer and read this. I had earlier in the week checked with a local store about their couponing policy, checked coupons to their sales, organized my coupons, then today went to that store, bought all items I normally use (with the exception of chocolate Easter eggs), they accepted all my manufacturer’s and store coupons and internet coupons gladly, and I saved $102.58! It works if you work it – and you help us make it easy. Hubby is out of work and only has a part time job, like so many people – we all need financial freedom in these times! If we were all independently wealthy then I guess couponing would be a waste of time. This is a big post, but just trying to make the point that you are doing a great service/ministry for so many that need your help, and naysayers will always try to stop a great work. Keep on keepin’ on!
This site has saved many people thousands of dollars!!There are negative people in this world but I’m so thankful you don’t let them get you down!
You go girl!!
Sorry to hear all the negative comments you’ve received. Just to let you know I “discovered” you last week on Joyce Meyer’s show. I spent about 15 minutes before my last trip to the grocery store following some of your tips. I saved $16.00 and change! While, that isn’t 50 % of my bill, it is more than I have ever saved on groceries before and put money in my pocket at a rate of more than a $1 a minute of my time spent. I thought that was pretty awesome and can’t wait to learn more!
I think your voice is great!! Very professional and uplifting! As for how much time it takes to coupon. The longer you coupon the less time it takes (experience is worth a thousand coupons!). People need to give it some time. I have honed my couponing down to what works for me.
The store not taking their coupons… come on people we all need to take ownership of our own actions. We are all adults and need to do SOME of the research. There are thousands of stores around the nation that do and do not take coupons. It’s not Sarah’s responsibility to check each one before you shop! Pick up the phone!
Since I’ve began following Sarah, which is a little under a year, I’ve saved my family thousands of dollars. Thank you Sarah!
That hurt me to read those things about you please know there are lots of us and our families out here that are grateful to you. Although I have never meet anyone on here in person I feel like I know many of you and find myself talking about you to my family as if I do know you.HAHA! I just get so excited when a new good deal comes out!
I can’t stand haters and what was written was very hateful !
Much love to all out there in “Coupon Queen Land”! I feel the exact same way about the above statement.I check each day this first, then coffee, then life daily routine! We love you Queen !!
PS. DON’T LISTEN TO HATERS OR ANYONE ABOUT THEIR NEGATIVE ATTITUDES YOUR GREAT,BEAUTIFUL,WONDERFUL,CHOSEN,HEIR TO A KING, NOT JUST ANY KING MIND YOU!
expressed in caps for a reason. We lovvvveee you and all the people that keep this ball rolling.

So, let me get this straight. Would people be happy if you clipped the coupons for them, went to the store to do their shopping, brought the food to their home, cooked and served the meal and stuck around to do the dishes? Probably not! Negative people will always find the tiny piece of jagged glass in a mountain of diamonds. As for my wife and I, we’ve been couponing for years. The thing we are most excited about is it allows us to add extra to the church foodbank when we find great deals. So if you find a great deal and it’s something you don’t use, buy it and give it to someone who needs it. God blesses those who bless others.
HA HA HA, you got it, Andy! Thank you to everyone for all the great comments, I really do appreciate it!
Bwhahahahahahaha! Love your responses, attitude, and humor. Keep up the great work!
Does this not say we live in a bipolar world, this person does not see the grey at all. Forgive them for they know not what they do.
I am sorry that you have to hear this negative stuff from people. As you know Chistians will always be persucuted and because you do your work in the name of Jesus you will be blessed by Him and persecuted by others. Keep up the succuss.
Comment # 5…..lolololololololololololololololololololol!!!!!!!
I hurt reading those comments, I’m sure those were hard to read yourself. You’re doing a great job encouraging others. I wish you didn’t have to hear that kind of attack. As a believer, I try to remember that when under attack it often means satan doesn’t like what we are doing…so keep it up!
I couldn’t believe comment #1!!! You never said you were debt free, extremely wealthy (due to couponing), etc…. Seriously, people! You are on your way though! Just like I am on my way to wealth due to being a good steward of the blessings God has given my family.
And what about not learning anything without the book??? You said it right when you directed them to have a look around the site! The book is just one tool.
Love your site! I have the book btw. Love it!
I thought your responses were great! We are trying to keep it real. I just started cruising your website last week after seeing you on Joyce Meyer’s show. I’m starting to get the hang of it. If I can save anything-even pennies add up.
We recently did a poster contest with the kids in the church-they made a poster for sanctity of life-the church members voted with their pennies as to which one was their favorite. They made $155.00 exactly-I was impressed how everyones pennies could come to so much. They voted on sending half the money to Lovematters.com and the half to Mother Teresa’s Maternity Home. I liked the idea on smartsource-the kids program, “cutouthunger.org” for foodbanks-they were couponing also. I want to do that next.-I think they will enjoy doing that too. They are already addicted to helping others-now they will be addicted to couponing too! LOL
Maybe those who are only focused on themselves, instead of having a heart for others like you do, Sarah (reap what you sow)will not reap a harvest because they sow little. Keep up the good work good and faithful servant-you truly will be wearing a special crown in heaven-for helping the hungry. Sincerely Lindalou
Wow….people shock me more and more each day. If you don’t like the website…don’t visit it….if you don’t like the way people talk….turn the channel. Why would anyone want to waste their time typing negative comments?? Thanks for all the great tips to save money!!! God bless you!
Sarah
I like your voice and I think you are so funny. Thank you for opening the world of coupon to me.
You handled those comments like a true queen! Good job, Sarah!
I so fear getting these types of e-mails and comments. You took them gracefully and that says so much of the person you are. Keep up the good work you are doing great! Blessings, Beta
Thanks so much, Beta! In the beginning this stuff was hard to take but the good far outweighs the bad! =)
Well that’s sad :C …in the time they took to write and send those they could have printed off wonderful money saving coupons. Thank you so much for sharing your couponing knowledge, I have been couponing now for about three months and a month ago I was able to quit my full time job and stay home with my 2 year old and 10 month old. What you do has made an amazing impact on me and my family. From the bottom of my heart thank you for all that you do!
These comments are just so childish!!! I’m so sorry that you had to read these comments and respond to them. You are such a reflection of the Father’s love! Thank you so much for all you do to help the rest of us. You are amazing!!!!!
Honey,
You have the gift of tact something I have never learned. I am reminded all the time of folks horrible attitudes about couponing each time I shop. It’s like those non-couponers think we are poor or lazy. (ITS A FACT FOLKS: the average median income of serious couponers is around $75K annual. While not in the Oprah’s league, comfortable in my area.)
I have learned lots of information from your website and have not had to buy a single book.
Just yesterday, I purchased 30 (64 load or 100oz Purex laundry detergent using BOGOS) less a $50 giftcard (from a survey I completed) for get this $31.19
when the retail price would have been $162.50…..
So Rock On Coupon Queen and I will dance all the way to the bank right behind you.

I think it’s rediculous that anyone would take the time to criticize you, especially over a physical situation. You’re just trying to help people, shame on the critics! Keep on keepin’-on, I hope I get a chance to hear you speak some time soon!
I just have to say I appreciate your honesty and candor. I find your willingness to share the good and the bad fabulous. Living within our means is not something we are generally taught and it can be very hard in our consumer society. Kudos to you for lighting the path on your journey to inform others. You are a bleassing and keep your head up!
i can NOT believe some of those comments…just can’t.
i mean really, why is it when someone tries to do something good in the world they get rained on?!
well, they can try to rain on your parade but for all the bad comments there are hundreds of people who are grateful and love you.
keep up the great work!!!!
I just purchased your book and am about half way through. I’m enjoying it. These comments from this miserable person make me very upset. I’m a Christian but I don’t like this person. She is obviously ignorant, unhappy and mean spirited. That is apparent by comment #5 about your voice. Well, sorreeeeeeeee!
Because of you, Sarah, in the past 2 months we have paid off our van, paid off our credit card and used our federal income tax wisely instead of wasting it on “wants” instead of “needs”!!!
I have been reading Proverbs and this popped out at me and made me think of you.
My child, listen and accept what I say. Then you will have a long life. I am guiding you in the way of wisdom, and I am leading you on the right path. Nothing will hold you back; you will not be overwhelmed.
Proverbs 4:10-12 NCV
What you are doing with the site, book, workshops, news interviews is sharing the WISDOM you have about coupons and saving money. You are GUIDING us and LEADING us on the right path and with this knowledge that I now have, I am not OVERWHELMED! I thank God that he put people and situations in your life that would enable you to be who you are today!
Thank you!!!!
I’m sorry that there are so many negative people out there that can’t seem to find anything to do but complain. Just remember all the ones (and there are many, many of us) that you have helped. Keep up the good work that you are doing. I appreciate your blog and all the information that I have gleaned from it. Thanks, Joann
Wow. Some folks will FIND opportunities to complain. I have been married 25 years this summer and have been a stay at home mom. I have always planned a budget and done pretty well sticking to it. I spent 24 1/2 of those years clipping coupons and trying to buy what was on sale. NEVER was I able to accomplish the savings made possible by reading your strategies and following alerts you give to us through this media.
Thank you for caring for others and not keeping your great finds to yourself.
I just want to thank you for everything you provide for us!! It’s because of your research that saves us HOURS to save on products we buy every week! THANK YOU FOR YOUR DEDICATION! I can’t tell you how much $$ we’ve saved since I learned of you just a month ago!
Jenny
Ephesians 6:10-18
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—
I was catching up on Joyce Meyer episodes and am so happy I caught the one with you on it. While, I’m a couponer, I haven’t really taken the time to look into the coupons and deals offered on the internet. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your knowledge and resources! Will be sure to share this website with my family and friends. I am also sorry that people are so mean-spirited (and ignorant) that they would waste time to post pointless comments.
Thanks for having this website and coming on channel 6 in the mornings
Its all great information and very inspiring what you do
I gotta start using more coupons
Ignore people that are being negative; they just dont get it
Your doing a great job!!
You have all the positives coming from me; I love learning and as soon as
I have extra money I will purchase the book
Not a problem at all to have a book
how sad to be attacked for sharing the gift God has given you. i don’t have it all down to a science. and i don’t live under the law that i can’t buy without a coupon. but… i enjoy your insight just as well. keep up the good work. you are helping more people than you know. God bless!
Thoroughly enjoy your site. But I guess it’s true, “you can’t please all the people all the time.” I say, don’t even try.
While I can understand the desire to address the less than positive comments, such a post really only opens the floodgates for your adoring fans to shower you with love. It seems more that you were feeling down and needed the positive affirmation more than you felt a need to address these comments. It might be more “believable” to close comments on those types of question/answer posts. It would at the very least, be more professional in appearance.
I am not terribly familiar with your site, having only seen you on the television morning show, but have been looking around. Personally, I tend to be less impressed by gushing fans than I am by hard, verifiable facts. I don’t think that’s being “mean” or “negative”. Perhaps some of those questions/comments might have been worded in a more positive way, but not everyone is going to use extreme tact on a website, which is essentially anonymous. That’s the world of the internet, unfortunately, and thick skin is required to be successful in it.
As for comment #5, while statements about personal qualities can be hurtful or hard to swallow, sometimes in broadcasting we refer to that as constructive criticism. Perhaps #5 was attempting to help you be a better television personality and not trying to be hurtful. While your voice quality may be a trait you feel you were born with, many individuals who seek a career in broadcasting and television have to have voice lessons to learn to modulate such characteristics as a “nasal tone” (which could in fact keep you off the national airwaves, since it is not considered a positive speaking trait.)
Good luck with your site and your endeavors, and again…thicker skin! It’s your best friend on the internet.
so I kinda thought this was a JOKE…You are SUPER Sweet to share so much with us all! Nothing but love here!
…and then some people are frustrated psychopaths who think they have all the answers.
Lou, I am sorry but you may want to familiarise yourself with this site before making comments such of those above. If you knew Sarah at all, which obviously you do not, you would know that she is not in broadcasting. She is a guest on the show. She is not trying to be on national TV. Her voice is her voice and it is the one God gave her and I am sorry but I hear nothing wrong with it. Sarah is very open to ALL comments. As a reader of this site I do think she is wonderful, do I gush over her? No, sorry Sarah. I am thankful to God that He has lead me to Sarah and her site and I am also thankful to Him that He has blessed Sarah in the way He has so she can go on and offer all of the wonderful tips to us all. Do I think she is amazing? You better believe it! She is a wonderful mom, wife, friend and Queen. She is very caring, smart, beautiful and funny. Now, if you consider that as gushing then well I am sorry. I tell all of my friends exactly how I feel about them so maybe instead of gushing that is just me being me.
Amen Brandi!! If it was not for this usful information that Sara provides I would not be able to stay at home with my children and still provide meals for them. Thank you Sara for caring enough to share what you have learned so that others may be able to do the same!
Lou, I hate to burst your bubble but I am not a “gushing fan”! I am not a teenie bopper who is faints when a “celebrity” walks in to a room. I AM a wife and stay-at-home mom of 3 kids and they are the ONLY people I gush over! Because of this site and ALL the fellow members who post on it,I have been able to save almost $1000 just by using coupons in less than 6 months! It is not the person (being Sarah) that I follow on this site or watch on the morning news but the information that she has to share. As you stated…”I am not terribly familiar with this site” is an overstatement! Maybe if you did become more familiar with it you would find that we are a family and not “gushing fans”!
I’m not a gushing fan either, I respect Sarah and support her for the business she has created and the fact that her heart is truly set on helping people save money and not be bound by it. I think some people forget that behind any ‘title’ is a human being who has feelings just like the rest of us. I agree as well that you do not know her at all, and therefore your comments have no merit. I can say this as I am certain I know her far better than anyone on this site.
I also think many people with harsh and rude comments simply need to find a hobby that they enjoy. If you do not like the person or the site or the content on it, why are you here in the first place? That’s the thing I don’t get. No one is being forced to be on this site, it’s free for you to be here and use the resources given. More people should be thankful as opposed to judgemental.
PS…Ever heard of Rachel Ray or Fran Drescher…that would be called ‘Nasal’ and I’m pretty sure they do not need coupons.
