There is a call on every single person in the earth, a purpose for their lives. The question is, will they ever fulfill it?
Right now, there is an anointing on me for what I am doing at this very moment. I know it now and I knew it over 3 years ago when I first launched my business. Of course, just because you are called to do something does not mean it will be easy.
One thing I’ve learned about myself is when times get tough, I give up. Looking back over the last 10 years, I can see certain things that I knew God was calling me to do but I walked away from it the second it got difficult.
When I began my little coupon business, my husband said to me, “I don’t care what you do but stick with it long enough for God to bless it.” Every business I started, I never stuck it out through the hard times to see God bless it. I quit the second it got tough.
Want to know what happens when you quit something God has called you to do? God finds someone else to do it.
I had a great business idea nearly 8 years ago. I was excited, I had it all worked out in my head and had contacted someone to help see it through. In the midst of that, someone I knew decided to tell me that I could never do it. She discouraged me, I listened to her and I quit. Within 2 years, someone else had that same business idea right here in our city, that person took the idea and developed it. That business is now being franchised throughout the country.
God raised up someone else to do what he asked me to do. Aren’t you glad we worship a God of second chances? About 3 years ago, I felt that same stirring inside of me for a different type of business. I was determined not to quit, I wanted to see what would happen if I stuck it out and let God bless it.
Although that urge to run away when the going gets rough is still inside of me, I constantly remind myself of this verse:
“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11
You and I have the ultimate conqueror inside of us! Determine today to develop a conquering spirit. Instead of running away when times are tough or difficult, hold fast and stand firm on the Word of God. God will not give you more than you can handle and God knows what is best for your life. If God called you to do something, he will give you the means to get it done.
Put on the attitude of a conqueror and when trouble comes your way, do not run away in fear. Look at the giant of trouble in front of you, run towards it like David did, throw your stone (the Word of God) and watch it fall!
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

AMEN and AMEN!!! Great message….
Love this message, Sarah!
And look what God has done to bless you and so many others in 3 years.
I have to say I especially appreciated this devotional because I do the same thing. I wouldn’t admit to myself or anyone else that I tend to be a quitter and that when things get tough the weak (me) gets going.
Thank you for sharing that excellent word!
You have been blessed but as a struggling retired Christian, I want you to know what a blessing you have been to me! Such a blessing to have things to share with people because of the tips that I have obtained from your website. May God richly bless you as you are obedient to His plan for your life.
Thank you!
Carol
Words I needed to hear today. Thank you and may God continue to bless your business.
Thank you so much for this post Sarah. God does put what we need in our path, when we need it and your message was just what I needed today. I can only imagine the times you have faced and the sacrifices you and your family have made and will likely continue to make. Please know that your efforts and sacrifices have meant so much to so many.
May God continue to bless you as you bless others.
Since the devotion was about not giving up I thought I would share this poem called Don’t Quit…
Don’t Quit
Author: Unknown
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is surprising with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about
When you might have won had you stuck it out:
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems so far:
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.
Thank you for the post! Beautifully written!
Thank you.
just what I needed to hear! Going to make my husband read this later tonight. PERFECT for where we are in life right now. Thanks!!!
Preach it girl!!!!
Thank you! I so needed to read this today. It has been one of those weeks and I just needed something uplifting today. You have been such an encouragement to me. It is nice to know that I am not the only one that has that ingrained flight reflex whenever things are harder than I had anticipated. I enjoy watching you on channel 6, but I cannot wait to actually see you in person at the end of the month when you come to speak in Tahlequah.
You are so welcome, Leslie, I am glad you enjoyed it! See you in Tahlequah!
great devotional and poem…it is just what I needed to hear today..thanks:)
I love what you are doing…so keep doing what your doing!
It was so nice seeing a devotional tab on a couponing website – I love it!!!
Thank you, Shari!
What a great devotion. I was checking out your site for the first time today and came across this devotion. I really needed to hear this. I have tried several different home based businesses in the past and this has happened to me several times. I tend to do really well but then when things don’t go a specific way, I give up. Just this morning, I sent an email to my director and told her that I had made the decision to push through and make this work, because it is something that I really want to do and I need the extra money right now. This just reinforced my decision that I made today. Thank you for this great word. I am planning on starting to use coupons when shopping. I have done it in the past and have been reading up on some of this and decided that it is worth it. Thank you for this wonderful site and I look forward to reading your future devotions.
