Make a Basket for College Students, New Moms or a Wedding Gift

I've posted this one before, but I did a newer version on the news this morning so I thought I would bring it back. The original picture below was from a couple of years ago, the news segment at the bottom of this post however, is from this morning. You can do this at any time but I will say it's perfect for a college gift!

If you're sending a student off to college soon, what better gift than a basket full of essentials? How about a new mom or even a newly married couple? When one of my cousins got married, I filled a laundry basket full of essentials just like this and they loved it!

This basket of 40  items would have cost $115.10 , but after sales and coupons it cost $4.80. How? Obviously, preparation is key. You have to know the event is coming and start watching those sales. Stocking up extra on essentials perfect for the person you're shopping for. Actually, many of the items above are in my stockpile on a regular basis so if you have a good stockpile and are in a pinch, grab these items and pick up a laundry basket and you're done!

I love the laundry basket, it's perfect for all occasions and useful. I'm a big fan of putting gifts in useful containers like kids toys in a sand pail and things like that. You can't beat essentials, I'm not a new mom or a college student but even I would love getting that basket above!

Not sure where to start? Check out our Matchups page where we post this week's deals and the coupons to go with them! Check out today's segment below for more great ideas:

Could you let us know where you got the items and how much for each item? I'm wondering how many stores I would have to go to for all the stuff.

Another reason to maintain that stockpile, too!! My DD will go to college next summer, and this has inspired me to keep the stockpiles up, so I can make HER basket with (mostly) things I already have on hand. Great idea, Sarah! :)

Wow, is that tax included? Awesome! I would love to make a few baskets for my sister and a neice who is in college. The thing that really gets me is the TAX. Taxes where I live are pretty much 10 percent... so my cost of this basket would have been around $16.32... grr.. hate taxes. lol. :)
