Frugal Gift Idea: Smores in a Jar
There are two versions of Smores in a Jar that we're featuring today. This post was from last year however, I showed the gift again on the news today so I wanted to post the recipe. The first is from Brandi who is a Coupon Coach and a contributor for MoneySavingQueen.com:
NOTE: This is not a part of our Frugal Christmas Gifts contest just another great frugal gift idea though.

Tie with a cute ribbon and attach directions for how the recipient will make the dessert.

Here is another great Smores in a Jar recipe that I gave out last year in case you want to make it a bit different than the one above:
What You'll Need:
1 Sleeve of Graham Crackers Crushed
1/3 C. Brown Sugar
1 1/2 C. Mini-Marshmallows
1 C. Milk Chocolate Chips
Large Jar
Directions: Layer in a large jar following the order above. Then attach a card with the following instructions:
Pour jar contents into a 9x9 greased pan and add 1/2 cup of butter and 1 tsp. vanilla. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
This recipe came from Budget 101.

Where can I buy the square box that Brandi used??
I purchased the box at Michaels. :) Use the weekly coupon to get them even cheaper!

I'm confused about the last recipe. What do you do with the half cup of butter? Do you chop it up and sprinkle it over or do you melt it or what? Do melt it and mix the vanilla in with it? Thanks!
I'm wondering about the last recipe too? On the butter use? I love this idea, the jar one. I handpaint so I think I'll do this and paint a differant M&M Charactor on the front of each so they can reuse the jar as a candy refill for display. thanks for sharing this idea! Merry Christmas
Here's what you do with the butter:

Pour contents of jar into a greased 9x9 pan, Melt 1/2 C. butter, add 1 t. vanilla. Pour over dry ingredients, mixing well.

Love these ideas! Very cute!!
nice!
I am a little confused with the instructions on the second recipe. Do the graham crackers go on top? It seems as though they should be on the bottom to form a crust, but the way they are stacked in the jar would make them be on top. Or is the entire recipe just mixed together and pressed into the pan?
