Frugal Christmas Gifts Day 7: Melted Crayon Art

You probably noticed I've already posted a frugal gift today however, since I kinda goofed on Day 1 of our Frugal Christmas Gifts contest, I am going to post another gift today just to get us back on schedule. Remember, There is still time to enter our contest, check out this post, learn how and enter to win an $1100 diamond from Gold Buyers Express.

Today's gift comes from Melonie and you've likely seen it on Pinterest. It is stinkin' cool and so much fun to make!

{Melted Crayon Art}

I found this on the Internet.  And I decided to make these for all the kids in the family for Christmas.  They are bright and very colorful, and would look awesome in a toy room or a bedroom, or even a gift for teachers classrooms.

Step 1:  Go to your local craft store and buy a canvas, there are many sizes and  shapes to choose from.  I bought mine at Walmart for $7 . Also pick up about 3 boxes of crayons, any brand will do fine.  I had so that i had picked up for .25  a box a few months ago.

Step 2:  Glue the crayons to the canvas and allow drying time.

Step 3:  Use your hairdryer to melt the crayons on high heat.  If you have a cool option when you get close to the pattern you want use the cool air to stop the crayon from dripping anymore.

Tips: Arrange your crayons in any pattern.  I have done this with cheap crayons and  with Crayola Brand Crayons.  Apply them to the canvas with the paper on/off the crayons.  The paper on the cheap crayons is easiest to get off vs. Crayola.  When heating crayons move/tilt the canvas in different directions to get different designs.

That's It your done.  Wrap it up and excite the imagination in your family this year for Christmas!!! Happy Holidays!!!

Cute idea to do with children as an activity but not as a gift. There is cool and cheap and then there is tacty. I wouldn't want this given to me so I wouldn't recipocate it either but most of the ideas are usually cool!

you can take the paper off or you can leave the paper on. This is a ton of fun. And I would love this as a gift.
