New Year's Resolutions...Goals...and Other Non-Cheesy Things
| Tweet |
It is almost 2012. Now What?
Goals?
Resolutions?
Anything?
I don't usually do any kind of resolution mostly because I'm pretty sure I won't follow through so I just skip the whole thing. This year is different. This year, I've added 'follow through' to my resolution list so that changes everything. A few weeks ago I had a minor breakdown and decided I needed to change quite a few things...all of which have to do with me and all of which are within my ability to change.
The other thing I decided to do was write this post. I mean, I figure if the 200k people reading this site see it then someone out there is bound to keep me accountable, right? Someone? Anyone? Alright, maybe not. Either way, here it goes.
{2012 Queen Size Resolutions}
1. Build a Strong Marriage: Yes, I started with a very personal one. What I mean by this is that we are going to re-establish date nights, this is so hard to do with a very busy job and two little boys but my goal is to keep this as top priority this year and not let those date nights slip. In fact, we're going to be asking for frugal date night ideas the entire month of February so maybe we can all stay on track with this one.
2. Find a Hobby: Jewelry making is something I did way back in the day and thanks to a recent post I wrote on Dimensional Magic Rings, it is back in my life to stay. My goal is to stick with it and make new beautiful things every single week. I keep wearing them on the news too so if you want to see me on TV, just look for glitter rings, earrings and my newest addiction, Jane Austen necklaces. Yep, I'm rockin' the jewelry thing.
3. Spend Time with Friends: If you have ever started a business, you know it can be all consuming. This is an area that I have let slide big time and without even realizing it, I have lost friendships due to not making the time to keep them going. I'm electing to bring balance back to my life and make room for friends. In the last two weeks I've been to Panera twice with friends and it has felt SO good.
4. Lose Weight: Yep. No comment needed...although I did tell one of the ladies in our office that my goal was to fit back into my first set of Spanx. HA HA HA!
5. Follow Through: I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I know I will.
I had that moment. I looked in the mirror and said 'something has to change and I think it will be me.'
Here's to a rock-your-socks-off 2012! If you have made a few goals this year, be sure to share them below.

I cannot tell you how much this post helped me to realize that we entrepreneur moms all struggle. I just recently left my full-time job to finish school to become an educator(to enable me to have more time for my daughters and husband) and started a small boutique business. When I left my job I thought I would be so organized and the house would always be clean(NOT) Being a work at home mom has proved to be much harder than I ever expected. I just had my breakdown this morning!!! After I partially recovered I started a schedule and after the new year I am going to live by it, in order to have a successful business, home, and education! Thanks for the post!

Wow!! I needed this post... I actually could have written it. These are my exact goals for next year also! For Christmas I gave my husband date night coupons - one a month and had inexpensive ideas for us to do. I've also lost connection with many friends and miss it so much - I need them in my life and I'm a better person in every aspect of my life when I take the time to spend with friends. I haven't figured out the follow through part out yet so I'll be waiting for some of your tips on that one! It's going to be a great 2012!
My health goals are to run a 5k (going to start the "couch to 5K" plan) and lose at least 30 pounds.
Our family has lost almost 100 together so far since we found the Body by Vi Challenge several months ago. It is a shake mix that tastes like cake mix, soooooo tasty. What I didn't expect was that it would even out my hormones. For the first time in my life (I'm 32) I started my cycle on my own. What ever path you take, pure nutrition is life changing once you get it in your body!
Frugal weightloss, lol. Maybe that is a topic to cover:) We actually ended up saving money because any customer can get theirs free if they refer 3 people. As long as they have three, it will continue to be free. Of course we still buy milk and almond milk and things to put in them, but it really has saved us money!
Here's to a great 2012 and you fulfilling all of your goals!

My goal sounds silly.....get invited to a cookie exchange before the end of the year. It's not really the cookie exchange, it's making new friends. I am going to make the effort to make friends. We moved to Moore 3 years ago and I have friends, but I don't have a best friend. That will mean conquering my fear of rejection and opening myself up to get hurt, something that has happened many times in past friendships. Steps i'm taking to reach my goal. 1. Read the book "Friendship for Grown-ups" by Lisa Whelchel 2. Get more involved in my daughters school/PTA 3. Get a job outside the home. 4. I am already active in my church, but maybe do more missions or find some other group to get involved with.
If you have any tips for me, please share!!!
