Couponing 101: A Coupon Matchup Decoded

Do our coupon matchups have you scratching your head? A matchup is when we take your weekly sales flyer and match it up to coupons that are available. We then tell you the final price so you can plan your shopping trip according to the deals. The big question, what does SS, RP or P&G mean? Let's look at an example below:

Huggies Diapers $5.99

-$5/1 SS 1/23/11

=.99 per pack (wouldn't that be a great deal?)

First, the $5/1 means $5 off the purchase of 1 package. If we were to say $5/2, it would mean $5 off the purchase of two packages. Second, the SS means SmartSource. This is an insert that comes in your newspaper or mail. Here's a list of those abbreviations:

SS=SmartSource

RP=Redplum

P&G=Proctor and Gamble

The numbers next to the SS in the example above is the date when that coupon came out in your newspaper. This way, depending on how you organize, you can go back to that insert and find the coupon easily.

I am wondering where I can get the Smart Source coupons. I am subscribed to the Tulsa World, but I don't get the SS inserts. Are they in the Daily Oklahoman?

Today I saw a woman using Coupon Codes to buy products different from what her coupon had on it. She had a list of coupon codes and next to them was a list of other products you could purchase and use that same coupon.

For example: She was buying toilet paper, but using a diaper coupon for $3.00 off because the code was the same. The store scanned the coupon. She had an entire list of these coupon codes.

Can you tell me where I could find the list. She said a friend gave it to her.

I believe that the coupon codes you are talking about is illegal or at the very least unethical. One of the couponers featured on Extreme Couponing did this, and there was an uproar about it.

It is illegal, we do not promote or share coupon family codes on this site. We promote ethical couponing which is using the coupon for the product intended by the manufacturer.

Thanks!

I am working on the walgreens matchups and not finding the smartsourace coupon or redplum coupons mentioned when I go to their site. Is there a particular zip code I should be using or must I get a newspaper?
