Couponing 101: What to do with Expired Coupons

Posted: 07/04/11 9:00 AM (Modified: 07/04/11 9:00 AM)

Here's a question everyone wants to know the answer to, 'what do you do with all those expired coupons?' Did you know military bases overseas can actually use coupons up to 6 months past the expiration date? It's true!

If you know a family stationed overseas, send the coupons their way. If you have an address of an overseas base that you would like to share with us, feel free to post it in the comments below.

To make it easy, we adopted a Navy base overseas and have been sending them coupons for almost 2 years. Feel free to send a few their way too:

Mailing Address:

(Standard U.S. postage rates apply as you are sending it to a U.S. address and not abroad. The mail will then be forwarded to Japan.)

COMFLEACT DET.

FSC

PSC 474, Box 700

FPO AP 96351-007

Put in a little note letting them know you found their address on MoneySavingQueen.com, it's great for them to see how many great givers we have on our site! This is such an amazing way to give back to all the troops who have done so much for us!

Thank you for the address for the military. Will try to send some coupons their way. Appreciate the men and women who serve so much and this is a small way to show it.
Thanks again

There are a few websites that list dozens of bases and stay up-to-date on them as well as far as what coupons they need or whether they are currently full up. I've been doing this since I started couponing in June. It's the best way to go!

Thank you SO much for this info! Not only as a way to help our wonderful men and women of service, but boy do I hate letting my coupons expire and sending them to recycle! lol

Hawaii does not count as overseas when it comes to expired coupons! Otherwise I would love the extra coupons!

Thank you for this address. I was, at one time, sending my
expired coupons to the military, however, I was required to
send it overseas and fill out all the paperwork the post
office requires for overseas packages. It got to be way
too expensive and time-consuming to keep it up. I am so
glad to have another opportunity to help the military in
this way. It's a great program and I hope everyone will
participate. What a difference we could make en masse.

Someone put that there are a few sites with lists of bases. The people who started this program has all the info you should need: http://www.ocpnet.org/ My coupon group sends ours to an American Legion where the women's auxiliary packages them and sends them off. We have tons of donors - even from people who don't really use their inserts!

Can we send ones that say "Walmart" or "Target" only?
What about the buy one get one free coupons? Are they okay?
