Find Treasures and Bargains at Goodwill

Posted: 02/04/13 8:00 AM (Modified: 02/04/13 8:00 AM)

You know I love bargains!  I love finding items that I can repurpose or refinish.  Goodwill is one of my favorite places to find treasures.  If you haven’t shopped in a Goodwill store, you will be pleasantly surprised at the quality and value.

Goodwill stores also feature a wide selection of fashions for the entire family.  Name brands and designer labels can be found along with great basics for glamor events, business attire; for your fitness routine or for working in the garden.

You will find fashion selections colorized and arranged by career, casual, active wear, plus sizes, Junior and teen trends, menswear and children’s.  Most children’s clothing and shoes of all sizes are base priced at $2.49 every day.  Goodwill is a great resource for replacing those rapidly outgrown sizes.

Speaking of a change in sizes, if your New Year’s resolution includes shedding some inches,  Goodwill has a colorful selection of active wear for men and women, perfect for walks and workouts.  As the pounds melt away, keeping up with shrinking sizes is affordable and fun when you treat yourself to some transitional pieces from Goodwill.  When you hit that goal, filling your closet with a new spring wardrobe won’t break the bank.

Name Brand purses, designer and vintage jewelry, shoes and boots, collectibles and home decor items are kept fresh and attractively displayed in a department store atmosphere.  Goodwill’s selection of fashions, accessories, home decor and collectibles changes daily in each location.  Plus, you will be met with a warm and friendly welcome in every store you visit.

Goodwill’s Newest Store is Now Open in Glenpool.   Goodwill added the tenth store and donation center, last July, at 502 West 125th in Glenpool.  This store is easily seen and accessible off Hwy 75 just south of the super Wal-Mart in Glenpool.  Most dedicated Goodwill shoppers visit multiple locations, each week.  This is definitely one not to miss.

There are ten stores in Tulsa and the surrounding area.  Click here for Store locations and hours of operation as well as information about all of Goodwill’s employment and job training services.

Sales!  Goodwill stores plan a number of special sales each month.  These and other events can be found on the Goodwill Value Planner:

  • Senior Day 25% off the entire purchase is offered to Shoppers age 55+ on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month.
  • Customer Appreciation Sale - 25% off entire purchase one day each month usually on the last Friday of each month.
  • Goodwill Day Special - 50% off one regular-priced item one day each month.

Watch for a Goodwill coupon published in a number of local papers the first week of each month, including the first Tulsa World Weekend section each month and in the Value News.

Don’t Miss the February Half Price Clothing Sale:     Four times, each year, Goodwill stores offer a 50% discount off all women’s, men’s and children’s clothing in a One-Day Sale event.  February 16th is the date set for the next Half Price Sale in all locations.  Stores will open one hour early at 8:00 a.m. and close at the regular closing time at 6:30 p.m.  At half off of the regular price of $2.49 for children’s clothes, this is a great time to stock up on what will be the sizes your kid’s will need, next fall.

Joplin Store Grand Re-Opening    Mark your calendar for the weekend of February 28 – March 2 and plan a pleasant drive to Joplin to join in the celebration for the Grand Opening of a new store at 2102 Range Line Road.  It has been nearly two years since the May 22, 2011 tornado damaged the Joplin store, beyond repair.  The Joplin team has been looking forward to returning to serve the Joplin community after having opened a Goodwill store in Carthage, Mo. in 2011.

Did You Know?    The generous donations of gently used clothing and household items are sold in ten store locations by Goodwill Industries of Tulsa.  The proceeds from those sales provide funding for Goodwill’s vocational training and employment programs that put people to work.  This is the 86th year that Goodwill Industries of Tulsa has been changing lives in eastern Oklahoma and in two counties of southwestern Missouri.  A free job search program was opened in 2011.  The Goodwill JOB CONNECTION is staffed Mon – Fri at Goodwill’s main facility on Southwest Blvd.  Services are provided on a walk-in basis to assist persons looking for employment with tools and skills to aid their job search.
