Welcome to 30 Days of Extreme Reality Couponing! Be sure to follow along with our tips on our Couponing 101 page. And, please spread the word and tell your friends about this series so they can also save 50-80% on their grocery bills!

Extra Care Bucks: ECB's are like cash and are printed onto your receipt when you purchase qualifying products. Check your weekly ad to find out what products qualify. For example, one offer might read: Purchase $20 in Cover Girl make-up and you''ll receive $5 in Extra Care Bucks.

You must be sure to save the receipt, that is where your ECBs are located.

The required amount to purchase is calculated before coupons. This means you can use your coupons to get that total down but still be earning ECB's because it is calculated by the actual price of the product.

Also, you do not have to purchase the total required amount in one transaction since it is tied to your CVS card. You can actually purchase the required products at any store at any time as long as it is during the time period that the promotion is being offered.

The best ECB offers are ones that are already free after ECB's, you'll find those highlighted in the weekly ad.

The best way to use ECB's to your advantage is to make sure your OOP (out of pocket expense) is low and that you area actually earning a profit from the ECB's.

To do this, you can stack your manufacturer's coupons plus store coupons, you can also use money off coupons such as $5 off $15 that CVS occasionally distributes.

For example,
Garnier Hairspray is $2 plus if you buy 2, you'll get $2 in ECB's

(2) Garnier Hairsprays $4
-$1/1 manufacturers coupon
-$1/1 manufacturers coupon
-$1/2 CVS store coupon
=$1 for 2 Garnier Hairspray's out of pocket

Plus, you earned $2 in ECB's-you just made $1 from the store! Just a note, your ECB's will expire 4 weeks from the day the printed.

Learning how to utlize Extra Care Bucks at CVS are KEY to saving money including scoring free or nearly free personal care products.
