Homemade Sunburn Remedies

A few weeks ago, The Peaceful Housewife posted about Homemade Sun Care Remedies and a few of our readers have been e-mailing us with even more. I also found this article from Associate Content about Sunburn Relief. I say all of this as my back is burning from being out in the sun way too long.

Here are a few of my favorite remedies:

1. Peppermint Oil: I love this mainly because it smells good. I saw my husband's cousin put some of this on her son's sunburn and he loved the way it felt and I love the way it made the whole room smell good. Pick up some peppermint essential oil and rub it on the burn.

2. Aloe Vera: This was what we used growing up, straight from the plant. But, you can also buy it pretty cheap at your local store.

3. Milk: You can actually dab this on the burn with a cotton ball. Rub a little Oreo on there to make it even better...ok, just kidding. I thought it was funny.

4. Cold Bath: The shower hurts when you have a sunburn, soak in a cold bath. I've even heard some folks put baking soda in there but the article I read above suggests oatmeal.

What are your favorite remedies for sunburn?

Colloidal Silver is THE best thing for a sunburn or any other burn for that matter. It's kind of expensive if you have to buy it, but we have a generator to make our own with distilled water (you can Google "Colloidal Silver Generator" for info on how to make one).

Just soak a paper towel and put it on the sunburn all evening after you get scorched. The next day, you have a nice tan. Seriously amazing stuff. In fact, silver (oxide?) is the main ingredient in some prescription burn cream. This is also wonderful for severe third degree burns because it is antibiotic so it cleans the burn at the same time.
