Fight Ants with Peppermint Oil
I have known about the many uses for essential oils for quite some time because we have a family member who uses them for everything. Really, essential oils are amazing. You can find them at local health food stores for $6-$8 each. The other day, I picked up peppermint oil and noticed a brochure at the store explaining the many uses. One use was to fight ants. This really caught my eye since we've been battling them at our own house the last few weeks.
All you have to do is put a little peppermint oil on cotton balls or small pieces of sponge and sit it around the house. Be sure to add a little more oil once a week. I've asked around and several people have said it works. I'm going to try it this week!

Peppermint is also a deterrent for mice. We are planning on planting some peppermint around our property this year and see if the pest problem disappears.
How exactly does it fight the ants? The smell? Or do they eat it? How much would you need to put out? I put two cotton balls last night and havent noticed anything.
Its their senses ...the peppermint burns so they stay away ;)
