Frugal Fun: Coffee Filter Butterflies & Bats
| Tweet |
Need an easy craft for the week? Make some beautiful butterflies (or in the case of my son, he calls them bats) out of coffee filters and watercolors.
What You'll Need:
Coffee Filters
Pipe Cleaners
Liquid Watercolors (or food coloring)
Medicine Dropper
Instructions:
I substituted food coloring (mixed with water) for the liquid watercolors because I had it on hand however, ideally, you would use the watercolors. Simply let your child drop paint all over the coffee filter with the medicine dropper. You can use a paint brush if you'd prefer, sometimes using something a little different makes it more interesting.
After your filter is painted, let it dry. Then fold it into pleats and use the pipe cleaner to 'pinch' it in the middle to make a butterfly shape. My son informed me that boys do not make butterflies, they make bats. If that's the case for you too, simply shape the top of the pipe cleaner into more of a triangle and then call it a bat...trust me, it works.
