Digging for Bargains at Goodwill

Shhh.......Money Saving Queen spotted at the Goodwill!

Ok, I will admit I’ve had an on again, off again relationship to Goodwill for years. It all began with Guess triangle patches being sewn onto my Lee jeans and then, it just got worse.

I remember being in the sixth grade and spotting my ‘boyfriend’ at our local Goodwill store. I was so embarrassed I found myself hiding underneath a pile of Halloween costumes. Only later did I realize that both he and I were in the same store so there was no real need to be embarrassed…but keep in mind, I was in the sixth grade.

As I got older though, I began to have a different outlook on Goodwill. Finding Ann Taylor Loft shirts for only $3 and new shoes for $4 has lit the ‘coupon queen’ spark inside of me.

A Sea of Good Deals

Saturday, my sister and I (with three children in tow) hit our local Goodwill. She walked away with clothes and shoes that would normally cost $130! I walked away with an obscene amount of VHS kids tapes and very happy kiddos.

Cheap Fun

All this to say, if you’ve been avoiding the Goodwill, I think it’s time to give it a second look. I’m all about nice clothes but I’m not all about paying ridiculous prices for them. For all of you Goodwill-ers, what are some of your best deals?

I Love my local goodwill and so dont my kids. We all walk out of there with something we love. Specially the clothes. I recently had and baby and who wants to spend a bundleof $$ on maternity clothes?? I great name brand maternity clothes there never mind the great selection of kids clothes. I have 2 rough tubbling boys that love to get dirty so I buy lightly used clothes there for them. Why coupon all day only to spend a fortune on kids clothes!!?? I have no shame in my game. When someone complaments me on something I bought there I glady say its from the goodwill and proud to say it cost me a fraction of the price!

Baby clothes are always .99 for 24 months and under! Go through the bigger kids stuff to find the 24 months that were accidentally hung up. Lots of baby gap to be had for .99! They do 25% off sales once or twice a month which means baby clothes for .75!

I needed jeans, and went expecting to maybe find one pair. Ended up with 3 comfy pairs which all happened to have the 1/2 off number of the day! 3 pairs of jeans for less than ten bucks!

I love our local goodwill! My mom and I both got those really cute wool pea coats during the winter for $5 a piece! And they would normally cost $100-$200 if not more! We go every week

Goodwill is a great store, BUT I have a secret store that 1up! BARGAIN THRIFT STORE in Town West Shopping Center in West Tulsa. They have a color coded pricing system. 90% off, 75% off, 50% off, 2 colors are original price. The help the blind, prices go down weekly (every Monday) They are the size of a grocery store & filled with deals. I have 2 kids & buy all clothes there. (4 & 2mos.) $.15-$.70 I buy many of my clothes there, too. Since I go weekly I only buy 90% off!

We bought 100 books for just around 20.00 and will have enough reading material for our 5 year old for the summer months, and will keep them for our one year old! Including Fancy Nancy, Berenstain Bears, Disney, etc.,!!!!

I am a Goodwill Junkie! I love to get the great deals on amazing jeans. My best "jean" deal would be when I got a pair of my favorite AMERICAN EAGLE jeans for $2.00 during the 1/2 price sale. This may not be worthwhile for everyone, but I also have a Goodwill *Discount Card* which saves me 10% OFF my regular priced items, so I NEVER pay full price even at the thrift store!! (The cost to get your first discount card is $5 and then it's only $3 to renew every January - I buy tons of stuff at Goodwill so I've made that back in one shopping trip!)
