Are you planning to escape on a Spring Break vacation? Likely, you have already been thinking about how to save money. Personally, I use these tips all year long and I can tell you, they really work.

Folks come up to me all the time asking about how to save money on vacations, getaways, etc. The very first thing I will tell you about deal finding is that you have to be FLEXIBLE. That means, if you want to save the MOST money, be flexible on the dates and the places you would like to stay.

If you have in your head that you will only travel on a certain date, stay in a certain hotel and eat at a certain restaurant, then you have lessened your ability to save money. The bottom line, the more flexible you are, the more money you will save.

{5 Ways to Save Money on Your Vacation}

1. Social Media: Yep, you need to twitter stalk and facebook stalk the hotels/resorts and theme parks you would like to visit. Not only can you see what deals are actually available but, you can also ask the company if any deals are coming up. You have instant access to the company and all of their promotions. Do this with high-end places as well. Just about every resort or hotel has a slow season and they'll put out quite a few deals. You may find the place you have always 'dreamed' about going to is not as expensive as you thought.

2. Call: Yep, it's old school. Call the destination directly. Tell them that you are looking to save money and find out some tips and tricks from the people who actually work there. You might find out if you delay your trip by a week or two then the prices will drop which means, it might be worth planning a Summer trip instead of a Spring Break trip. Also, if you find out the prices online, you can call and ask if they will beat that price. Believe it or not, many hotels will beat online prices.

3. Airfare: Ok, I cannot stand the price of flying. I'm not a huge fan of being that high up in the sky anyway but I really do not like the price tag of it either. Check out AirfareWatchdog.com. You can plug in the destination you would like and it will alert you to the lowest prices. I have used it a multitude of times and it really works! Also, be flexible on the dates you travel and consider an off-day of travel or a less popular time.

4. Half Price Deals: I am ALL over this! I literally watch Living Social Escapes and Groupon Getaways daily. I stalk them. I'm so surprised by the crazy amount of good deals available on those sites, be sure to check them out!

5. Repositioning Cruises: If you are thinking about a cruise consider a repositioning cruise. You can save 50% or more by traveling via a repositioning cruise rather than the usual destination cruise. I have never been interested in a cruise until I saw these kinds of deals, I might just have to go for it!

There you have it. Now it is time to ROCK that vacation!
