New Devotional: Preparing for the Rain
What have you been praying about lately? A new job? Bigger paycheck? A future spouse? Sometimes we can go years wondering why a certain prayer has not been answered. But maybe...just maybe, we are not really prepared for the answer at all.
Think about it. Let's say you are praying for a promotion right now. Everyday, you believe God and pray that a door will open so you can get that big promotion. Nothing wrong with that.
But, are you prepared for that promotion?
Are you prepared for longer hours? Are you prepared for greater responsibility? Are you prepared for a larger workload or even the stress that comes with managing employees? If God answers your prayer today, are you ready for it?
In my own life, there are prayers I have prayed that I am thankful God did not answer (or maybe the non-answer was an answer?). I would not have been prepared if he had. There are also things in my life that I prayed for years ago and those things are just now happening. It may seem as though God took his time, but that is not the case at all. I was not ready.
I also know that there are things I am currently believing God for and praying about that may or may not happen immediately. But, I now realize that they will happen when I am ready to take those things on. Only God truly knows what you can and cannot handle and God knows what is best for your life right now.
I had a friend tell me about an event he was planning. He told me he was believing God for hundreds of people to come and attend this event, I then asked him if he was prepared for that. He told me he would deal with it when it happened. Obviously, he was not prepared.
Word of advice...if you only have enough food for 100 people then you don't want 300 showing up. As someone who has large events on a regular basis, I can tell you that you never want to have too little food. The people get restless. Then, you end up looking unprepared. It's not good. You'll want to hide under a table.
The bottom line, think through your prayer and be prepared for the answer. Do whatever you have to do to be ready for God to show up. When we were believing God for a new house, we repaired our old house. And when God brought a buyer our direction, we were ready to go. We were prepared for the answer to our prayer.
God won't send the rain until the ark is built. You have to be ready. Get out there, start building and be prepared for a flood of blessing that is headed your way!
