Seven Years Ago Today

Seven years ago today at 1:11am, my oldest son was born.

Three days after he was born, he became very sick. He began vomiting uncontrollably and was covered head to toe in rashes that would bleed all day long. He had a piercing cry of pain which would go on for hours and throughout the night. It took one year of hospital visits, specialist appointments and tests before we received an accurate diagnosis of food allergies.

His body was reacting to 22 different food allergies which included milk, egg, peanut, tree nut, soy, chicken, turkey, garlic and a host of other common foods. I cannot tell you how many times we raced to the hospital not knowing what the outcome would be when we got there. His first year was the scariest year of my entire life.

But, here he is.

He is 7 years old today. His face is full of freckles and cookie crumbs.

He likes kangaroos and sno-cones.

He began life with 22 food allergies and he has only 4 today. We are walking out a healing process but we are on our way.

Who would have known those food allergies would have sparked my interest in couponing? Couponing which began as a necessity and soon became a passion. A passion for saving money which God has used to reach families all over the country. A passion which became a business. A business which provides for my family.

Who knew?

They say kids change everything.

He has changed everything.

Happy Birthday, little man! Your mommy loves you. :)

Happy Birthday!! What a beautiful story. Can you please tell us about the treatment you have used to reduce the food allergies to only four? Wow! I have heard of N.A.E.T. but not tried it. Have you? Any experience you have would be appreciated -- maybe point us to a website?

As far as allergies go, my favorite website is KidsWithFoodAllergies.org. We use avoidance 100%. I do not do other treatments, we simply avoid the allergens.
