Frugal Living: Free Movies and Dinner

My husband and I have been married for 10 years and while I know all about finding something to do for free like local entertainment, ultimately, we really enjoy going to the movies and out to dinner. This is likely because we spend most of our nights watching Toy Story and eating at McDonalds so let’s just say a non-animated movie makes us really happy.
When I started couponing, five years ago, I was determined to figure out a way to do the things I wanted to do and purchase the items I actually wanted to purchase at a lower price. Basically, I did not want to give up the stuff I love. The same is true today. Last week, my husband told me he had Friday night off and we were going on a date. WOOHOO! The next step was figuring out how to do that on the cheap.
Here’s what we did:
Purchased 4 boxes of specialty marked boxes of General Mills Cereal. For every two boxes purchased, you can print a FREE movie ticket. Of course, I used a coupon too. Click the link above for details.
For the dinner, I purchased a half price gift certificate on LivingSocial.com. What I love about Living Socialis if you get 3 of your friends to purchase the same gift certificate then you get yours for FREE. Also, if you pass along your referral link then you’ll earn ‘deal bucks’ for every person who signs up. That means, our dinner was completely FREE.
