So you want to ROCK Black Friday? Great. I do too. I, however, like to avoid the crowds and shop online. I also like to eat large amounts of Oreo's and stay awake by guzzling Diet Coke but not everyone has the same idea on Black Friday. I know some of you like to busta move in those massive crowds while the rest of us huddle over our laptops praying those good deals go online. No matter what kind of shopper you are, I have some Black Friday secrets that will land you the BEST deal guaranteed.

1. Know Your Prices: What?!!? You mean to tell me Black Friday prices are NOT the lowest prices of the year? Uh, yep. That's exactly what I'm telling you. In fact, most retailers pay a ton of money to make it look like those are the lowest prices of the year but they're not. How is one supposed to know this? By doing your research ahead of time. Check out websites like PriceGrabber.com or Google.com/shopping. Double check the price of that TV before you buy it so you are not duped by Black Friday marketing.
2. Know Your Times: It is SO important that you check the times for your deals including days since Black Friday seems to be becoming Black Thursday and Black Wednesday Night. Simply keep a close eye on our Black Friday 2012 forum for the leaked ads or check your local newspaper to verify. There's nothing worse than showing up at 4am for a HOT doorbuster only to find out the doorbuster deal was on Thursday.
3. Grab Yo' Coupons: Get those great deals on Black Friday and make them even better with coupons. Call the store directly, sign up for e-mail alerts and check them out on Facebook for coupons that are valid throughout Black Friday. The same goes for online coupon codes. If you're shopping Black Friday online (like me) be sure to search RetailMeNot.com for a coupon code before you checkout.
4. Give Price Matching a Try: You might...just might...be able to score all of those deals at one place. Check out our Price Matching for Retail Stores post for all of those holiday price matching policies. Everyone knows Walmart will price match but actually many more stores have jumped onto that bandwagon such as Target, Best Buy & Staples. Can you imagine only hitting one store on Black Friday? Sounds like a good deal to me.
5. Price Adjusting Policies: Perhaps one of the most exciting secrets when it comes to Black Friday...many stores offer Price Adjustment Policies. This means, if you buy your item full price and then the next day it goes on sale, you can bring your receipt back to the store and get the difference back. SO...hear me out...if you check out the leaked ads and buy your items (that you know will go on sale) a couple of days early THEN you head straight to customer service on Black Friday, you will get a price adjustment if your store allows. Yep, pick your jaw up off the floor. SO, every year, I buy DVDs at Target for $20 each, because I've seen the leaked ad, I know they'll be $3-$5 on Black Friday. On Black Friday, I take my receipt up to the desk and get a refund on the difference. BAM. Instant savings and no crazies. See how cool that is?
Now, price adjusting varies by store and some stores (like Best Buy) do not even open customer service on Black Friday. Call ahead and see if they have such a policy before you bank on it.
Personally, I do 90% of my Black Friday shopping from home. I leave that 10% just in case I feel the urge to leave my laptop and go get a cheeseburger, but mostly, I do my shopping online. I look at the leaked ads and load (and save) my shopping cart the day before. Then, when the deals go live, I checkout. Easy sailing. Granted, not everything is on sale online but most of my items are plus I post deals like crazy from now until Christmas so I can get a ton of items that way.
Amazon does hold a big toy sale the first two weeks of December and buying a TV is best around Super bowl season and not on Black Friday. Keep an eye out on those doorbuster deals too, most of the time, they are cheap models that you don't want anyway.

Each Walmart is different. Call your store directly, ask to speak to a manger and get the name of that manager then ask if they do price adjustments.
Worst case, you can return the items on Black Friday then buy them back at the lower price.
Double check your store's price adjustment policy. Quite often, Black Friday deals are exempted from price adjusting. Also, at least at my Walmart, they do NOT do price matching on Black Friday. They don't want people stuck in even longer lines than they already will be. So make sure to do your homework in advance so you're ready for the actual policies.
Walmart is advertising that they are price matching this year on Black Friday.
Target is the BEST place for price adjustments, I do it every year!!!
When you price adjust, do they actually give you a refund or is the difference given on store credit?

Do you know why Oklahoma's black Friday ad for Wal Mart has higher prices on almost everything than the black Friday ad that was 'leaked' earlier? ALL of the surrounding states have ads that show the lower prices.

If the store does do Price Adjestment, is it available for the whole time of the sale? Say 5am-11am for example.. or only if the product is in stock?
