Guest Post: Sharing Your Resources with Friends

The following is a guest post from Princess Melanie.
There is something to be said for “living in community” with people. Seventy or eighty years ago people just naturally lived that way. Now, with all the changes in technology, we have to be more purposeful about it. Your community doesn’t necessarily mean your next door neighbors. Your community are the people in your lives that you “do life together with”.
A few months ago, my husband and my brother-in-law started talking about wanting a power washer. Through a series of conversations with each other and a handful of other guys, they decided instead of each renting a power washer, they would go together and buy one. To rent a power washer costs $50 for an hour or two. Instead, 7 guys pitched in $50 and they bought a real power washer. Now, they can all use it whenever they want, as much as they want, for the same price as one rental would have cost for each of them.
I was so excited that the guys came up with the plan themselves! Think about what things your family needs that may make sense to share with another family or families. Sometimes, I really believe it does “take a village”.
