Branson on a Budget Part 1: Half Price Vacations

Posted: 09/21/11 6:00 AM (Modified: 09/21/11 10:13 PM)

My family and I recently returned from Branson, Missouri and we were on a mission to save money! Growing up in Oklahoma, our family often took close-to-home vacations and our typical destination was Branson. Today we are launching a five week series about how to save money in Branson, Missouri and we're also launching a fabulous giveaway! Before you hit the road, be sure to check out ExploreBranson.com and sign up for the FREE vacation guide and also check out their hot deals page too!

One of my biggest tips for any trip but even this recent trip to Branson is keep a close eye on half price vacations and getaways. You will find vacation packages slashed 50-90% off by checking out the sites below:

LivingSocial Escapes: Hands down this one is my favorite! The weekend we took our trip, they offered an amazing half price vacation at the Hilton on Branson Landing which is where we stayed. It is beautiful and if you picked up the LivingSocial deal then you scored this awesome hotel for half off!

I love not only the amazing packages on LivingSocial.com but also the fact that if you share your link and 3 of your friends buy that same deal through your link, you will get your trip completely free! Can't beat that!

Groupon Getaways: Similar to Living Social, Groupon Getaways offer drastically discounted vacations and trips. Some are all inclusive while others are mainly room & board but all are discounted 50-90% off! You can share your Groupon link with your friends and earn Groupon bucks to help you pay for that vacation too!

Plum District: Again, just like the ones above, Plum will offer vacation deals however, these are not every single day. Most are also to high end resorts but the prices are slashed which makes those types of trips more affordable.

Priceline.com: We all know you can find great deals on Priceline.com but did you know they have an app too? If you want to roll the dice, you can arrive at your destination city and shake your phone after you've downloaded the app. Priceline will pull up the nearest and best deals to your location. You can then bid or purchase your room right from your phone. We traveled several times this summer and I actually used this and picked up great discounts without having to surf the net!

So there you have it, we've tackled the actual 'getting there' part of the vacation but stay tuned, next week we'll start 'Exploring Branson on a Budget.' While you're waiting, be sure to enter our giveaway for a three days and two nights in Branson!

Disclosure: This post and our vacation was sponsored by ExploreBranson.com. However, all my opinions and experiences are truly my own.

We go to Branson a lot. Before you book a hotel through a site like Explore Branson call the hotel and make sure they can't give you a better deal. We book a room through them once got to the hotel and found out it would have been cheaper for us to go directly through the hotel. But we have found a hotel that we love and always give us a great rate since they know we only go there(has an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and everything is within walking distance. Go karts are across the street and put put is in same parking area).

I took my girls this past June. I pricelined my hotel 2-star hotel for $25 per night. We stayed at the Howard Johnson's that had a great outdoor pool and included a yummy breakfast the next morning!

I'm going tomorrow evening and pricelined a 2 1/2 star for $36 per night at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott which has an indooor pool and breakfast included.

If you can stay where breakfast is included - that saves me money!

I would love to know where people would recommend staying on the strip that is close to go carts & put put.. I have a small child, & we plan to be able to spend a couple of hours each night with him on just doing some fun stuff before bed. And also, is there another town that I need to be searching for on living social, as Branson has not been listed over the last 2 weeks that I have been looking. Thanks!!

Branson comes up every few weeks or so, just keep checking. Be sure to check out ExploreBranson.com, hands down they have the best info about where to stay. Personally, I don't like to stay on the main strip, we usually stay off the beaten path a bit but I'm sure they can recommend some great places!

We will be traveling to Branson later this month with 4 children, ages 7, 12, 13 and 16. ANY tips, hints, tricks, etc...would be GREATLY appreciated! Would like a hotel that caters to the kids or a resort/vacation home if possible.
