Enjoying Simple Moments with Bona Products + Giveaway

December 4, 2016 By Sarah Roe 1 Comment

Confetti Pops

My son recently celebrated his 11th birthday this summer and it was a blast. He knew he was having a family and he knew the activities planned be he had no idea there would be confetti.

In fact, no one knew about the confetti but me. I picked up the confetti poppers at a local craft store and filled them with confetti, passed them around quietly and we waiting until the big birthday song.

Confetti is a simple thing that can change everything. It glitters, it’s gorgeous and it completely took my son off guard which was hilarious.

#MySimpleMoments

That was one of my favorite simple moments. A moment with family and a moment my son will not forget. This past week, we also decorated gingerbread houses. Another great family moment my kids loved and so perfect for this holiday season. It is these little bits of time that mean so much.

#MySimpleMoments

Just like confetti, gingerbread houses are a total mess. They’re beautiful, they are fun but the pieces of candy, icing and gingerbread is all over my floor and table.

Enter Bona products. Recently, I was given a chance to try out the Bona mop and wet and dry cloths. Now, I don’t have to spend all day cleaning up or get so worried about the mess that we lose all the fun. Our whole family can simply enjoy the process.

A Delicious Dessert: Peach & Oatmeal Nice Cream + Giveaway

June 19, 2016 By Sarah Roe 64 Comments

IMG_1383

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by The Women Bloggers & Kendal King Group however, all opinions (and recipe) is 100% my own.

Nice Cream is my thing. I’m all over it. I was a huge ice cream eater back in the day then, dairy decided to not agree with my stomach and I thought I was done with it for good. Then, I heard about Nice Cream. When I first tasted it, I was shocked by the goodness. Honestly, it tastes like ice cream only much, much healthier.

Nice Cream has a base of frozen bananas and, once mixed, it has the consistency of ice cream. All you have to do is add more fruit or even a little chocolate and you’ll have an amazingly delicious dessert.

Do you see how delicious that picture looks up there? You won’t believe what I mixed to create this dessert. Are you ready?

Peaches & Oatmeal Nice Cream #CookingWithGerber

YES! I used Gerber Oatmeal & Banana Cereal and Gerber peaches and it is amazing! I have five boys and when they were younger we always had Gerber cereal and baby food products on hand. If you’re looking for a great recipe substitute full of nutrients, Gerber is it! Open the pantry, you probably have endless possibilities right there on your shelf.

The great thing about Gerber is you already know it’s a high quality product full of nutrients your body needs. Plus, it makes a great substitute in recipes! This is a great recipe for toddlers too, it’s a crowd pleaser the whole family will enjoy.

INGREDIENTS:

3-4 Frozen Bananas (slice, then freeze ripe bananas)

1 tub Gerber peach baby food

1/3 cup Gerber Oatmeal & Banana Cereal

DIRECTIONS:

In a food processor (or high powered blender), mix the frozen bananas until they create an ice cream consistency. Then, add in the other ingredients you choose such as the peaches and oatmeal cereal. Mix until blended. Do not overblend or your nice cream will be runny. Then, simply stick a spoon in and eat! Or, you can be a normal person and pour it into a bowl but, who has the time for that?

Peach and Oatmeal Nice Cream

The delicious taste of Nice Cream will shock you! It’s addicting, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Plus, you can make it into popsicles too if you’re daring. Personally, I’m lucky to get it in the bowl before it’s already gone YUM!

To help you get started making your own version of Nice Cream, you can enter to win a $50 Visa Gift Card! Check out the #CookingWithGerber hashtag on your social media accounts for even more great recipes.

Giveaway: Win a Digital Copy of Zootopia

June 17, 2016 By Sarah Roe 16 Comments

zootopiaposter1

As the best reviewed movie of 2016, critics and audiences around the world have fallen in love with the wonderfully innovative animal metropolis of “Zootopia” and the comedic chemistry of rookie rabbit officer Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and scam-artist fox Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman).  It’s been called one of the best buddy cop comedies in years!

The runaway hit arrived on Digital HD, Blu-ray™, Disney Movies Anywhere, DVD and On-Demand (does not include bonus) platforms June 7, 2016, viewers are able to enjoy the vibrant world of Zootopia and reunite with their favorite characters, but also discover more about the evolution of this extraordinary tale through in-depth bonus offerings.

Features include candid conversations with filmmakers and artists behind Zootopia, an alternate opening, never-before-seen characters and deleted scenes and a sneak peek at some of the hidden Easter Eggs that make reference to Disney Animation’s most beloved films and characters.

Bonus features include*:

BLU-RAY 3D, BLU-RAY & DIGITAL HD:

  • Zoology: The Roundtables– Ginnifer Goodwin hosts an in-depth look at the movie’s characters, animation, environments and more. The artists at Disney Animation give a rare and in-depth look at the complexities of bringing an all-animal world to life from the ground-breaking technology behind the characters’ fur and clothing to the varied and vast environments of Tundratown, Sahara Square and the Rainforest District as well as the deep thought and research given to bringing 64 unique animal species to life through animation.
  • The Origin of an Animal Tale– Follow the story’s development from its origins to a big story shift that turned the film upside down. In this feature-length documentary, filmmakers give a candid look into the difficulties of creating the story of Zootopia and the bold decision to switch the main character late in the production process, putting one resolute rabbit center stage.
  • Research: A True-Life Adventure– The filmmakers traveled the globe to find inspiration for the diverse characters and amazing city of Zootopia. They reflect on the importance of research and how a deep dive into animal behavior at Disney Animal Kingdom theme park and a deep immersion into animal society on the African savanna shaped and inspired the characters of Zootopia and changed the filmmakers’ lives forever.
  • Z.P.D. Forensic Files– Find the movie’s hidden Easter Eggs. Every city has its hidden gems, especially when it has been created by the filmmakers of Disney Animation who love nothing more than sprinkling hidden references to some of Disney’s greatest animated features throughout the story.
  • Scoretopia– Academy Award®-winning composer, Michael Giacchino spotlights five of cinema’s greatest percussionists and how they brought an organic, animalistic sound to his powerful and emotional music score.
  • Deleted Characters – Directors Byron Howard and Rich Moore introduce citizens of Zootopia who did not make the final cut.
  • Deleted Scenes:

o   Alternate Opening – Young Judy Hopps rescues a fellow classmate and realizes she can reach beyond a life in carrot farming to a future in law enforcement.

o   Wild Times! Pitch – Nick desperately pitches the bankers of Zootopia on funding Wild Times!, an amusement park made exclusively for the predators of Zootopia and a sure-fire, money-making scheme for Nick and his friends.

o   Alternate Homesick Hopps – After a frustrating first day on the force, Judy has a conversation with her parents.  See how this scene changed from a heartfelt conversation with her parents to tough love when her parents discover their daughter is only a meter maid and not a “real cop.”

o   Detective Work – Judy borrows a fellow police officer’s computer to conduct research, which turns out to be no small task.

o   Alternate Jumbo Pop – In this early version of the story where Nick was the main character, the filmmakers and Jason Bateman were able to take hustling to a new level.

o   Hopps’ Apartment – When Judy’s entire family pays her a surprise visit they are shocked to discover the company she’s keeping.

o   The Taming Party – In this emotional clip from an early version of “Zootopia,” Judy attends her first “taming party” and gains a deeper understanding of the plight of the predator.

Soccer Synergy Camp

Summer is almost here! That means, it is time to start talking summer camp. Our family is all about soccer and I know many of you are as well. I wanted to share with you a little bit about Soccer Synergy camps and give you a chance to win a FREE pass to a day camp this summer!

Soccer Synergy camps are designed to functionally incorporate all the elements of being an athlete: nutrition, flexibility, psychology, speed and strength, technique, attitude, leadership, becoming a good teammate, all blended into a model representing the complete athlete, the total game, the entire person.

Playing soccer is more than being an athlete, and being an athlete is more than running fast, jumping high, and using physical skill. The mind fuels the body, and the body must respond to the mind. The human spirit gives rise to the will that inspires  discipline and desire. Beyond talent, transcending your gift, is the will to push beyond limits. Soccer players are not average, they are complete and exceptional athletes.

This camp is a blast, your child will love it! Here is a little more information about the Soccer Synergy Day Camp:

Day camp is intended to provide instruction to young soccer players of all levels, that is developmentally appropriate, which balances success with challenge, and ultimately creates a fun and safe environment for learning, growing, and developing as a whole person through the beautiful game of soccer.

Campers will be placed in small groups based on age and ability. The Camp is designed to provide a safe, fun learning environment that focuses on the development of attacking and defending technique/skill. Camps will be held at the ORU Stadium.  CHECK-IN begins at 8:00 a.m. on the first day of camp.
